Belize Welcomes New Mexico City Flights

For the first time in the company’s long history, Aeroméxico began flying to Belize on November 17, 2018. The new Mexico City-Belize City flight is Aeroméxico’s 50th international destination and now means that the second-largest city in the Western Hemisphere has a direct connection to Belize.

The inaugural flight of Aeroméxico’s new Mexico City-Belize City route landed to great fanfare last Saturday. “I am quite pleased by this new flight as it will help bring our people closer to Belize,” said Carlos Quesnal, the Mexican Ambassador to Belize. “Our existing connections to Europe now make it a lot easier for people in Belize to get to Europe, too,” said Loren Andaahl, Aeroméxico’s senior vice president of corporate strategy. “The new flights are warmly welcomed by Belize, and we look forward to seeing more Mexican tourists come and visit,” said Manuel Heredia, the Belizean Minister of Tourism.

The new Aeroméxico flights will operate every Saturday and Sunday throughout the 2018/19 winter season. Flights depart Mexico City (airport code: MEX) each Saturday and Sunday at 8:30 a.m. and arrive in Belize City (airport code: BZE) at 10:30 a.m. Flights depart Belize City each Saturday and Sunday at 12:30 p.m. and arrive in Mexico City at 2:25 p.m. All flights will be using an Embraer 190 aircraft that can hold up to 99 passengers. Round-trip ticket prices average around $350.

The new Aeroméxico flights will make it simpler for Mexicans to visit sunny Belize as well as make it easier for Americans and Canadians vacationing in the region to include Belize as part of their itinerary. Belize City’s international airport now receives direct flights from major cities across North America, including Atlanta, Calgary, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Los Angeles, Miami, Minneapolis, and Charlotte. Belize City’s airport also receives flights from destinations across Central America, including Panama City (Panama), Guatemala City and Flores (Guatemala), Roatán (Honduras), and Cancún and Mérida (Mexico). Aeroméxico, Air Canada, and WestJet also offer onward service to Canada and Europe for travelers wishing to avoid stopovers in the United States.

If you’re interested in visiting Belize, consider staying at the beautiful Coco Plum Island Resort. Located on a privately owned island approximately eight miles off the coast of Belize, Coco Plum is a luxury, adult-only resort with just 18 private cabanas just steps from the beach. Coco Plum was also the only property in Belize to win the coveted 2018 Condé Nast Jensens award.
