Hand line fishing or drop fishing is one of the most widely practiced forms of fishing in Belize by local fishermen.

It consists of using a hand line hooked with smaller bait which is thrown into the water, sinking to the bottom of the ocean floor. Our local guides will take you to the best coral and rock formations as you target snappers, groupers, or grunts. Don’t lose focus as you are sure to feel a bite within seconds of casting your line. Be ready to pull in your haul! From there, you will venture toward the Belize Barrier Reef and use those same fish as bait for your troll/spin fishing along the reef’s edge to catch larger fish, including: barracuda, king mackerel, grouper, jacks, and cobia. While the troll/spin fishing does require a bit more patience, you are sure to have an excellent fishing experience in Belize.
