2022 Awards Winners Announced!

We are delighted to share the news that our resort has won a Condé Nast Johansens 2022 Readers’ Award. Johansens, a respected British publication that reviewed hotels, resorts, and spas, was acquired by Condé Nast in 2001 and renamed Condé Nast Johansens. For over 35 years, Condé Nast Johansens has employed a team of highly experienced travel professionals who roam the globe, inspecting hotels and resorts on a yearly basis. Criteria for being selected for the annual shortlist is highly competitive, and most properties are visited and inspected for five years before being nominated.

We are so pleased to announce that we have been recognized as a 2021 Travelers’ Choice Best of the Best award winner in the categories of Small Hotels and Romance in the WORLD and in Central America, that means we're in the top 1% of hotels worldwide! Throughout this challenging year, we're humbled to know that we stood out to travelers and provided an amazing experience despite unprecedented circumstances. Based on a full year of Tripadvisor reviews, award winners represent travelers’ ultimate favorites around the globe.

We'd like to share one of our favorite reviews from 2021, “All I can say is wow! The location is phenomenal. It is like a different world with beautiful crystal clear water. Every morning we would get up and just walk out the front porch to watch the sunrise. We had hammocks that were over the water to use and one on our porch. The bed was very comfortable. It is small and secluded and that makes for very personalized service. They go out of their way to make your stay wonderful. The chef cooked us a special local dish when I asked. The restaurant sits right on the water and so does the bar. We are looking forward to returning!”

We won! Travelers’ Choice Best of the Best awards represent the most exceptional, highest-rated properties and are among the top 1% of all listings on TripAdvisor. Given the fact that half a million hotels greet guests on any day of the year, it’s easy to see why we felt so honored to have received notification from TripAdvisor about our win in several categories. Our hearts raced when we realized that we were even selected as the #1 in Top 25 Hotels for Romance in the WORLD! Especially during a year that has been so challenging for all of us.

We'd like to share what one TripAdvisor honeymooner shared recently, "I've spent the last month reliving our perfect honeymoon over and over again through my pictures and video...searching for the perfect words to do this place the justice it deserves when it comes to writing this review. What can I say that hasn't already been said? How can I describe in words just how epically amazing and magical Coco Plum truly is? All I can do is offer you more of what 1500 other people have already said. In a word Coco Plum is "Perfection."

We are thrilled and humbled. After all, Conde Nast Johansens' has been conferring awards for a quarter of a century, and competition is fierce because criteria are daunting. Winners must be exceptional to be acknowledged and rewarded in such a prestigious manner, thus these world-renowned Awards for Excellence bestow upon properties prestige and global acclaim. Even though we are a small, private romantic island we hope to be the quintessential destination for couples who crave an equal mix of intimacy, solitude and sensory delights with just enough activities and tours to spice things up: snorkeling, scuba diving, swimming and touring ancient Maya cities.

Coco Plum has been awarded a 2019 Traveler’s Choice Award for the ninth year in a row. We'd like to thank our guests for taking the time out of their busy schedules to share their stories about Coco Plum. We were named #1 in TripAdvisor's Small Hotels category for 2019 and #1 in their 2019 Top Hotels for Romance category, beating out high-end competitors in Belize.

Additionally, Coco Plum took second place in the World Top Traveler’s Choice Hotels for romance. As TripAdvisor attests, romance is in the air at Coco Plum Island. This is the fourth year in a row Coco Plum Island has earned a #1 spot on TripAdvisor 10 Top Hotels for Romance list. All told we landed 9 TripAdvisor nods.

TripAdvisor takes its ranking seriously, using an algorithm based on best value, service, amenities, overall vacation experience, quality of accommodations, proximity to attractions, onsite restaurants and—importantly—feedback from guests who are not afraid to speak their minds in this day and age of full disclosure. But just having favorable reviews didn’t seal the deal for us. We purposefully aim to gain the attention of travelers by prioritizing attention to detail. This commitment remains a priority for us, as is the consistency of our service.

Here's what one TripAdvisor traveler shared recently, "Suffice to say that Coco Plum is an incredible experience. Their commitment to customer service is as good as it gets, both in philosophy and in execution. I've traveled very widely and this is the first place I've been that delivered at this level, consistently, without hesitation. I'm sure there are other places using this model, but I've not experienced them."

In 2019 & 2018 Coco Plum Island also secured Certificate of Excellence Hall of Fame awards. Businesses that have received a Certificate of Excellence for five consecutive years will qualify for the Hall of Fame award. Trip Advisor notes that the prestigious Hall of Fame was not offered in 2016 or 2017. The only other time the Hall of Fame was offered was in 2015 for the fifth anniversary of the Certificate of Excellence. Coco Plum Island Resort was a proud recipient of the Hall of Fame award in 2015 as well.

With great humility we are not only #1 in Belize, but have taken several top spots throughout Central America & in the World! In fact, Coco Plum Island Resort is the only hotel ranked in the World categories from Belize! Coco Plum Island is a great destination to relax & recharge.
